DJ Nik Denton

Now into his fourth year as a Federation resident, Nik Denton has certainly made his mark on the Fed soundtrack during his time with us. In that time Nik has carefully moulded his own sound around the funky music policy that Federation has championed for 6 years and has built a loyal and dedicated fan base of Federation addicts.

As a prolific and successful producer, Nik continues to keep his sets alive with fresh material and through doing so has delivered a countless number of memorable sets at Federation. Of course this can also be said for his sets outside of his residency with us. A well travelled DJ who's diary is never less than busy, Nik has played at a countless number of UK club nights, some as high profile as Hed Kandi (Queer Kandi) and Trade.

With over a decade behind the decks, Nik's knowledge of the industry and experience is unquestionable. He first caught the bug for DJing when he was 17, influenced by his weekly visits to Trade @ Turnmills in London, where legends Tony de Vit and Steve Thomas were amongst the DJs who inspired him to start his adventure into the world of dance music. His dream to one day become a resident for Trade was met in 2007 when he was asked to join their unique team of 'fierce rulin' DJs.

His adventure not only boasts a professional DJ career but has also seen Nik launch three of his own record labels, all under his own Toolbox company. He has released many tracks and remixes on an impressive catalogue of labels and more recently has exported his trademark tough house sound from his own house label to others that want a bit of the action. These include Nasty Habits, Club Star and Blue Dove Records. His house productions discography has so far seen him work on tracks with vocalists Angie Brown, Tonnic and Niki Mac.

And along with fellow Federation Resident Gregg Holden has also officially remixed the Federation classic "Higher Place" by Peyton. It would be criminal to not mention Nik's original first love in dance music, Hard House, a style that Nik still firmly has his hand in. His hard house label Toolbox Recordings is one the worlds most respected Hard Dance labels and continues to go from strength to strength. There is no question that his experience in this field influences and is the foundation for what he is about as an artist and in everything he does and has shaped the turbo charged sound he is now known for on our dance floor.

As well as many guest spots, you can catch Nik playing regularly as a resident for Organic (Manchester), G Bar (Liverpool), Recreation (Manchester), Vicious Circle events nationwide, Electrosexual (Manchester), Trade (London/UK) and of course Federation.

DJ Stuart Robinson

After been completely blown away after a visit to the Hacienda in Manchester in the early Nineties Stuart decided where his future lay.

After a DJ failed to turn up at a club in Bristol, he got his chance to show off his unique sound and was quickly snapped up as a resident. He was soon playing all over the South West & Midlands, from the messy all-nighters at the Monastry in Torquay playing along-side the likes of Trades, Steve Thomas & Malcom Duffey to Sonique, to headlining the massive 4000 capacity Dome in Birmingham.

It was in Birmingham Stuart was spotted by a big northern club promoter who invited him to play at his night in Mansfield, he was so impressed, Stuart was soon playing all his Club nights including his flagship night Red Raw in Leeds, playing alongside the other resident, the legendary Tony De Vit.

From there he went to take up residency at the infamous Paradise Factory in Manchester where he got to work alongside other Clubbing institutions such as Heaven, DTPM, Crash & Salvation.

Then in 2000 he was brought in to take up residency at Fibre in Leeds, where he perfected his unmistakable big room funky sound, that led him on, to help create the sound of Federation. A much in demand DJ across the UK and Europe, most notably Cream in Ibiza, and at Heaven in Gran Canaria. He's Also got some big London club dates coming up so look out for those.

As well as many guest spots, you can catch Nik playing regularly as a resident for Organic (Manchester), G Bar (Liverpool), Recreation (Manchester), Vicious Circle events nationwide, Electrosexual (Manchester), Trade (London/UK) and of course Federation.

DJ Gregg Holden

Gregg always had a passion for music and the club scene from an early age. He purchased his first set of decks at the age of 18 and experimented with dance music, progressing to the versatile house DJ that he is today. Having explored his desire for dance music, Gregg developed his taste in funky house and refined his style, specialising in uplifting / vocal dance tunes.

Today, Gregg specialises in funky house music and incorporates a blend of modern electro sounds with upfront, tough beats. Gregg enjoys adapting his style to each venue while embracing a contemporary house music edge. Federation, one of the biggest and most successful dance events in the UK and recognises Gregg as one of their most fresh and talented DJs. Gregg has headlined Federation events in Ibiza, Gran Canaria, Manchester, Leeds, Nottingham, Blackpool and Belfast.

His most recent accomplishment has been to host the Federation Birthday Spectacular 2007 promotional CD, which will be distributed across the UK. Gregg can also be found playing at Fibre in Leeds which is quite possibly the trendiest and most exclusive bar in Leeds city centre.

Currently Gregg resides in Manchester and hosts an afterhours night along with Nik Denton called 'Organic'. The exclusive line-up of top DJs take you on a journey of house music from the fresh, funky & uplifting sounds through to tough and electro house beats.

His exclusive weekday live GaydarRadio sets (9pm to 12midnight) are a chance for him to do what comes naturally. The trusted tastemaker really comes into his own with the infamous Club Nation, two highly unique, cutting edge 10 hour weekend dance shows on Friday and Saturday nights, Club Nation.

DJ Jason Guy

Jason first starting DJing in 1989 after becoming captivated by the Hi-Energy music scene many of the UK's gay clubs were championing in the late 1980s. After the prerequisite bedroom practicing and hours spent tracking down German and Italian vinyl imports, Jason earned himself his first break covering for the holiday of the resident DJ at the now defunct Rockies in Sheffield.

Over the next few years, he secured residencies at many of the North's largest gay clubs in the late 80s and early 90s, including Rockies and The Mineshaft in Manchester, Rockies & Breakers in Sheffield and Rockshots in Leeds.

As Jason's musical taste moved from Hi-Energy to house (greatly influenced by the Hacienda) he secured further residencies at Curzons in Derby and Mr Bs in Bradford. He was then asked to become the main resident for the newly opening Cruz101 in Manchester, where he stayed for the first year. After traveling and DJing every weekend for 5 years, he wanted to devote more time to his personal life and retired from DJing.

12 years later and with CDs becoming the medium of choice over vinyl for DJs, Jason was bought a pair of CD decks for his birthday. Mixing is like riding a bike and within a few months, he was playing his style of funky, driving house for Fibre in Leeds. He’s since been lucky enough to play regularly for Federation around the UK at major venues including the Manchester Apollo, Flamingos in Blackpool, Area in London and Mission in Leeds.

Since coming back to the DJ scene he has played at a number of big scale events, including Gaydar Radio's Main Stage at Manchester Pride 2008 to a crows 1000s strong, Queer Kandi (in conjunction with Hed Kandi) and the massive Love Leeds events.

DJ Baby Jane

Jane started DJing in 2005 when, as she was a house music fanatic, a friend persuaded her to buy some decks. Five months later came her first residency at Manto Bar, Manchester where she took up a Wednesday nights. This was successful and Wednesdays quickly became Thursdays which in turn quickly became Saturdays.

She became known for playing vocal dirty and electro house and was brought to the attention of Federation resident and Organic afterhours promoter Nik Denton. Nik saw Jane as a perfect addition to his line-up and in 2006 made her resident at Organic. She still holds both residencies today.

As she matured, so did her style and she began playing different styles to suit different nights and venues. Not being content just playing in Manchester, she entered Bar Fibre's Mix Factor competition in 2008 where she was runner-up. One of the judges on the panel was Federation promoter Gareth Chapman who gave Jane her first Federation gig in May of 2009. Jane also regularly guests at Liverpool's G-Bar.
